I admit it, I have recently begun to read Facebook regularly. It is a way to catch up with old friends and feel connected. With Facebook or the internet it is possible to chat with many people. It is even possible to convince yourself that you have a community. In many ways the computer makes it easy for us to stay home or choose to be alone.

The tragic events that took place on Friday at the Sandy Hook Elementary School are beyond words. The deaths of so many people, both innocent young children and caring adults, whose final acts were attempts to protect their students, brings us to the edge of despair. Since I heard the news last Friday afternoon I find my emotions are swirling. I find myself so profoundly sad one moment. And later I become outraged. Like many of you, I am at a loss.
